NSX GT3 driver Legge remains in IMSA title hunt

Katherine Legge and Meyer Shank Racing maintained their push for the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship with a solid double-points finish at Mosport in Canada with the NSX GT3.

Legge's co-driver Alvaro Parente qualified their car sixth in the hotly-contested GTD field and climbed to fourth in a tense race before handing over to the Briton with 50 minutes remaining.

A fifth-place finish leaves Legge just two points away from the championship lead and in second place overall. Parente is sixth. MSR and Acura are second in the Teams' and Manufacturers'points tables respectively.

The sister car of Justin Marks and Lawson Aschenbach (below) started 10th, but had climbed into the top five by two-thirds distance. Aschenbach lost a spot at his final pitstop and finished on Legge's tail to keep he and Marks seventh in the points table.

Both cars were competing as part of the NSX GT3 Customer Racing Programme; a global collaborative project with JAS Motorsport responsible for assembly of all cars.

Honda Performance Development (HPD) and M-TEC handle sales and technical support in North America and Japan respectively and JAS responsible for these areas across the rest of the world.

Stefano Fini, JAS Motorsport NSX GT3 Project Leader, said: "The GTD category in IMSA is one of the most competitive in the world for GT3 cars and the results at Mosport reflected this closeness of competition. The advantage swayed from one team to another as the weekend progressed, but when it really counted, the NSX GT3s were most competitive in race trim and delivered a pair of top-six finishes. Katherine, especially, is right in the battle for the title and on a weekend when it wasn't possible for us to win, the same could be said of MSR's main rivals, so the battle goes on."
