JAS MOTORSPORT BUILD FIRST TCS CIVIC FOR CAMPIONATO ITALIANO TURISMO

Plan to Get Youngsters into the Sport

JAS Motorsport will build cars to meet the new TCS specification for the entry level category to be included in the Campionato Italiano Turismo.

The TCS technical regulations mirror closely the Group N philosophy, popular across Europe in past years for young drivers starting on the ladder of experience in National Touring Car racing.

The Italian series is the first national category to include the TCS formula for operation in 2016. The TCS cars will run with the TCR machines at the 7 Italian events so far confirmed for this season.

The Honda specialist will build TCS specification Civic Type R machines, harnessing the 310hp of the production car, as the key factor in these economic but high performance touring cars.

The simple technical profile keeps the production engine but with a supplementary ECU, upgraded engine mounts, free-flow exhaust but with mandatory catalytic element, limited-slip differential fitted to the standard transmission set-up, competition quality brake pads and improved suspension. Recognised safety preparation is authorised, trim removed, cage and racing seat installed and battery protected.

“This is a very sensible entry-level specification to get youngsters into the sport”, says Mads Fischer, JAS Motorsport’s Business Development and Customer Service Manager. “We need to see a clear path from karts to the top of International Touring Car Racing and in Italy we are marking out this roadmap. TCS will be the most economic entry-level category but already sponsors are coming forward to find the next Tarquini or Larini. It will, be fun and fast but a great training ground for winners. Group N has never had a better future prospect and TCS will show the way forward for worldwide competition in near production cars. JAS has the right car in the Civic and we are ready to race!”
